Making a Difference in Imperial County 
PROGRAMS
UCCE Imperial County CalFresh Nutrition Education Program provides our community with nutrition education and physical exercise for the entire family.
The Youth Nutrition Education Program provides no-cost curriculum, support and resources to pre-school through high school teachers in low-income Imperial County schools to deliver this education in
their classrooms.
The Adult Nutrition Education Program provides evidence based nutrition education to food stamp recipients and other low-income individuals and families in collaboration with local partners.
DREC and UC-CalFresh partner to provide Nutrition and Agriculture on the farm to adults and youth in Imperial County.

Imperial County UC-CalFresh is making a vital impact providing our community’s most vulnerable populations with the information they need to make healthier, wiser food choices:
3,633 children served
26 schools served
176 teachers helped
425 classes taught
6,881 adults received nutrition education
$253,613 brought into the county
SUCCESSES
Approximately 52% of Imperial County children and adults who participated in UC-CalFresh changed their behaviors in the following ways:
- Increased consumption of fruit and vegetables
- Now read food labels when making food choices
- Increased their physical activity
- Children are now willing to try new foods at school
- More children bring fruit as a snack
- More children are identifying healthy food choices
